What happened to Serene Sky's JOURNEY BEGINS album?

For all those who might have been wondering about what happened to Journey Begins, which was supposedly the first studio album of Serene Sky, there is good news because the album has been remastered and will be released along with Hiatus Broken.

Though Journey Begins was recorded at a local studio in Kottayam in the year 2001, the band decided not to release it because of the poor recording quality. Since the band members were novices in the field of recording at that time, they did not have much say in how things turned out. Hard fact is that the vocals and the guitars were completed in a hurry burry manner in just a days time, whereas the so called professionals with the programmed keyboards stuff itself took around two days to finish. The band members tried to get the album mastered at other places but with no luck. It seemed to be way beyond improvement.

But then, the continuing efforts of the band and the different kinds of recording experiments that the band did with their own home studio set ups made them develop a style of their own that was detrimental in the recording of Hiatus Broken. The same techniques helped in making Journey Begins far better than what it actually was. Thus, they already have two rock solid albums in their arsenal, all set to blast off in December.

HIATUS BROKEN - Serene Sky rock band's debut album

After a span of decadence, Serene Sky rock band is once again in full throttle. With around fifty original songs to their credit and no record yet out in the market, the band is looking forward to revamp what they did best – setting stages on fire. To start off the attack, they are out with their debut album called HIATUS BROKEN. The album features Serene Sky's college-school cult hit Burial ceremony along with power-packed slugs like Devil's Land, Imperfection, Stop now and Gone Away. HIATUS BROKEN is scheduled for release during the first week of December.

Flashback

To cut things short, Sooraj met Thomas and gang way back in their college days (late 1990s) for some jamming and decided to have a band, with hopes of producing an album soon. ‘Nicoteens’ was born. Change of college and members, later, brought forth ‘Serene Sky’. Artists came and artists went but the twosome stuck and so did the name. The album ‘Journey Begins’ that they compiled in the year 2000 didn’t see light as they thought it wasn’t up to the mark. Meanwhile, the band had been doing small gigs for receptions, flower shows, food festivals, new year celebrations, etc., for quite some time. But the pace slowed down gradually due to varied careers and attitudes of band members. During this time a change of name was also suggested. Thus ‘Promenade’ came up. However, with infrequent practice sessions and gigs, things came to such a pass that it seemed to be a complete shutdown for the band.

But the dream was still there … and was gaining propensity during the limbo ….

Now they are back. A stable lineup and a streamlined modus operandi. Fully loaded … to play the GAME !
