After a span of
decadence, Serene Sky rock
band is once again in full throttle. With around fifty original songs to their
credit and no record yet out in the market, the band is looking forward to
revamp what they did best – setting stages on fire. To start off the attack,
they are out with their debut album called HIATUS BROKEN. The album features Serene Sky's college-school cult hit Burial ceremony along
with power-packed slugs like Devil's Land, Imperfection, Stop now
and Gone Away. HIATUS BROKEN is
scheduled for release during the first week of December.
Flashback
To cut things short,
Sooraj met Thomas and gang way back in their college days (late 1990s) for some
jamming and decided to have a band, with hopes of producing an album soon.
‘Nicoteens’ was born. Change of college and members, later, brought forth
‘Serene Sky’. Artists came and artists went but the twosome stuck and so did
the name. The album ‘Journey Begins’ that they compiled in the year 2000 didn’t
see light as they thought it wasn’t up to the mark. Meanwhile, the band had
been doing small gigs for receptions, flower shows, food festivals, new year
celebrations, etc., for quite some time. But the pace slowed down gradually due
to varied careers and attitudes of band members. During this time a change of
name was also suggested. Thus ‘Promenade’ came up. However, with infrequent
practice sessions and gigs, things came to such a pass that it seemed to be a
complete shutdown for the band.
But the dream was still
there … and was gaining propensity during the limbo ….
Now they are back. A
stable lineup and a streamlined modus operandi. Fully loaded … to play the GAME
!
Greatest Gig
LIGHTLY HEAVY – The
band’s own live rock show staged at St. John’s Hall, Tiruvalla – their biggest
blast as Serene Sky in the good old days.
Greatest
Support
The widespread multitude
of school and college fans spread all over India and abroad who still
look forward to an album release by the band.
